Woodland Garden

OCTOBER 2024 — I really like planning shade gardens — they’re not as showy as sunny gardens, but when they get established they are cool and subtle and dreamy. This is a somewhat tough spot, with heavy shade under a big maple tree.

Appropriate to the woodland setting, the planting plan is is heavy on ferns, with spots of color brought by woodland goldenrod, asters and native geraniums. I can’t wait to see this garden grow in next year!
