Dry Stone Walls, Paths & Patios
Ever since I was a kid, I have been fascinated by the old stone walls I would see off in the woods on long car trips. How old were they? Who built them? Somehow the walls survived long after the houses and farms they were built to protect.
Dry stone walls are built without cement, with nothing but gravity, friction and the builder’s skill to hold hold them together. When built properly, dry stone walls can stand for 100 years or more.
I am proud to be trained & certified by The Stone Trust and the Dry Stone Walling Association, two non-profit teaching organizations dedicated to preserving and advancing this ancient craft tradition.
I really love integrating dry stone work into garden projects, from small garden bed borders, to full-scale privacy fences, to dry stone patios and informal garden paths. It’s another way of celebrating natural materials and escaping the cookie-cutter suburban school of landscape design!
